Intentional Consumption

Taking stock of what we consume can often be eye opening. There are so many acts we do on a daily basis that can become mindless. Maybe we put the kettle on every time we go to the kitchen and make another cup of tea or coffee…. Or we go from looking at a computer all day to watching tv to scrolling before bed. We might choose to watch a Youtube video of someone exercising instead of going and exercising ourselves.

Caffeinated drinks, screens and Youtube aren’t inherently bad. The point that is worth highlighting here is how doing anything mindlessly can be damaging or at the very least, steals a lot of the joy from it. If we stop paying attention when we are driving, the chances of us causing an accident increase dramatically. The smaller things throughout the day can have more of a compounding effect in us not being where we want to be. Being mindful of our consumption can be a really helpful way of keeping it at a healthy level. It also starts to build the habit of being intentional with our actions.
